The dichotomy between native Pro Tools (previously Pro Tools LE) and Pro Tools|HD has always been an odd one. This new update brought previously HD-only features, such as larger sessions, improved track soloing, and a native version of Avid’s Heat saturation effect, to the standard version of Pro Tools.

The first update came shortly afterwards, and as promised was free to subscribers.

However, the way was being paved for improvements in the future with a new application manager, and the option to purchase and rent plug-ins from inside Pro Tools.
